Why Do We Need Goshala?

In Vedic scriptures, the cow holds a position of utmost reverence. She is considered the abode of 33 crore deities. The protection of cows (Go Raksha) is one of the primary dharmic duties prescribed in Hindu scriptures.

The Shankaracharya himself was imprisoned in Tihar Jail for 52 days in 1966 for advocating cow protection as part of Dharma Samrat Karpatriji Maharaj's agitation. Go Seva remains central to the Math's mission.

What Does Goshala Do?

Shree Govardhan Goshala operates under the direct guidance of the Shankaracharya

Rescue & Shelter

Rescue of abandoned, sick, and old cows. Providing permanent shelter, nutritious food, clean water, and veterinary care to all Gauvansh.

Panchagavya

Production of Panchagavya — the five sacred products of the cow: milk, curd, ghee, cow urine, and dung. Used in Ayurvedic medicine, agriculture, and Vedic rituals.

Organic Farming

Promotion of cow-based organic farming. Cow dung manure, Jeevamrit, and natural pest control methods for sustainable agriculture.

Vedic Education

Educating the community about the spiritual and economic significance of cows in Indian culture and Vedic tradition.

Research

Research on indigenous cow breeds, their medicinal properties, and the production of cow-based products for health and environmental applications.
